FLINT, Michigan – The Latinx Technology & Community Center, with the assistance of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor nursing students, organized a “Feria de Salud” (Health Fair) on April 2, 2022. The purpose of the event was to assist partner health organizations engage and connect resources and services to the Latinx and Eastside community. This event was made possible with a generous sponsorship from HAP Health Insurance Company.
The Health Fair included different activities encouraging families to be healthy and active, such as bounce houses for children, inflatable games, basketball, and soccer nets. The atmosphere was family friendly, encouraging parents and children to spend time together with balloon artists and Dora and Diego mascot costumes that were playing with children, taking photos and even dancing. The event also had the purpose of offering healthy and delicious food, chicken tacos, prepared by Chef Maria G.
The Latinx Center is grateful for the partner health organizations that offered their time and services. During the health fair, organizations offered vaccines against covid-19, HIV testing, condoms and protection for safe sex, guest passes to the gym, motivational books, fitbits watches, and nutritional activities.
